Custom Process

THE PROCESS OF GETTING A CUSTOM DESIGNED AND CUSTOM MADE COUTURE GOWN

Let’s work together to design your dream gown!

The custom clothing process starts with a free consultation where you share with me your ideas of your vision and what you would like. Images are always best to make sure I know what you mean. I also like to get to know a little about you and your special event which I keep in mind as I design.

At the end of this appointment, if we agree we are a good fit for each other, we schedule a second meeting where I present the design proposal to you. I charge a fee for the design (between $50-$150) which includes doing research, gathering fabric swatches, and creating the drawing.

I present to you the design.

At the next appointment, I will present to you the design. The design includes a front and back drawing, multiple fabric options, and what the price would be according to each fabric. At this point, you choose the fabrics and approve the design or make any adjustments to your liking.

When the design is agreed upon, a deposit payment of half of the estimate is due to start the project. If any design changes are made throughout the creation process, the additional cost is added to the final payment at the end.

Also at this appointment, I take your measurements not only for fit but also design as to how long or how high you desire. Then we schedule out some fitting appointments.

The creation begins!

I start by ordering the materials and making the pattern. At the first fitting, you will try on a cotton mockup of the pattern and see the materials acquired.

There are multiple fittings throughout the process as we construct the gown layer by layer. There are generally at least three fittings, yet I will continue to work on the dress until it is completed to your satisfaction and fits perfectly!

It’s important to bring with you for all of your fittings the shoes and any undergarments, like bra or shapewear, that you plan to wear with your gown. You can also bring any accessories you are thinking of wearing with your gown to try it all on together.

At the final fitting, final payment is due of the second half of the estimate plus any additions or adjustments made in the process. You are welcome to bring someone with you who will be helping you get into your gown and doing your bustle so that I can show them how it all works.

We also like to get some photos at this final fitting before you take your gown with you to wear on your special day!
